| Download MP3: "Lord, Save Me From Myself" |
Click here to download an MP3 of this song.
In response to some bad netiquette that has been slightly bothering Hailey, myself, and others here at switchFeed, I just wanna make a couple things clear on our behalf: (a) If you wish to make the MP3 available to your fansite readers, do not re-upload it when we've already made it downloadable on our official eSnips page. Stealing traffic is not nice. You can use the link we have provided. (b) MP3 rips from our exclusively-released (and often painstakingly-acquired) #videopimp videos have been distributed, with absolutely no credit given. Not cool. Videos have also been re-uploaded on YouTube without credit. Not cool either. If this keeps happening, I might have to consider uploading videos on YouTube without putting out the MPG file for download. If you don't like crediting, you can get an account at videopimp.org, donate, read all the how-to's, request the recording you want before the show, wait for them to release the video, figure out how to work the non-userfriendly mIRC, and endure the overnight wait in a queue of 20 people each waiting for their download, until you have your video (often after a few failed attempts because the server went offline or you got booted out so you have to get in the queue again the next day) - after all that you can do whatever you want with the video without crediting anyone. (c) If you post the lyrics on your fansite, please credit us for the hour we spent trying to decipher the lyrics (yes, in spite of making this clear in the last post, it wasn't honoured). We do not make any money doing this site (in fact I spend on it from my own pocket when I don't know if I can afford my next semester in college), but we're more than happy to do it as a free service for you fans (fams, rather) and for the love of the band, so the least we ask for in return is credit where it's due - and it's disappointing when that code of honour is broken. I'm sorry if I come off as rude, I don't mean to - this has been happening repeatedly, and personal messages to webmasters don't seem to be working, which is why I decided to rant about this here. We've always been about sharing everything with everyone in the spirit of community (which is why I do this site), but, please, let's do it respectfully. If I have failed anyone at crediting, I apologize, feel free to point out any such error on my part so I can remedy it.
The more I've blogged, the more I've been learning the importance of this: Your site doesn't look any cooler by having others' efforts posted as if it were yours (even if your readers don't realize this), rather a site that credits well and does linkbacks generously gets far more respect.
Anyway, this is the last you'll hear from me about this. If it persists, life will still go on. Forgive me if you had nothing to do with any of this and I just wasted 5 minutes of your life.Labels: downloads |

As a person who has anonymously leaked Switchfoot content exclusively to one site before, I feel your pain. It's wrong, and borderline illegal to not give proper credit for a file. As for the re-uploading thing though, it's likely that they just thought they were saving you bandwidth by not hotlinking. Most sites specifically ask that you don't link directly to the original files because it ups their costs each month.

actually, you just waisted 3 minutes of my life.
Jst kidding. no you didnt.
You guys work so hard one everything and you do deserve credit. I completely agree with you there. Rock on Hayley and Phil! :)

EDIT: one - I actually meant AND.

I'm sorry this has been happening, guys. I feel your pain and this is why I don't ever post, and don't ever plan to post pictures.

Haha, I know that was a serious post, but the "i just wasted 5 minutes of your life" part is exactly what Matt says in "Crayons Can Melt For All I Care" except he says 10 seconds.
okay, just thought I'd share that...
Anyways, on a serious note, I know you all work really hard on this site, and you don't get thanked enough, so here's my thanks to all the things that you've put up here! I hope you get credited for everything you put up in the future.

You guys are amazing with everything you do for us and we do not take it for granted! Thanks for the mp3 of this song :D

@anonymous I'm pretty sure that wasn't the reason in this case. But its all sorted out, the concerned party wrote in and apologized and its all good.
thanks you guys for understanding. i'm gonna leave the post up for future reference.
@wearemadeoflove i LOVE that song hahah even though you can't even call it a song
@emily, etc. i love you folks who regularly comment and let your appreciation be heard because it reminds me that someone's day is made better because of what i do. it helps keep me motivated.

You have no idea how much I feel your pain. I'm a writer. Sometimes I google myself to see where I'm posted that I didn't know about.
And sometimes I find sites with my writing, but an entirely different name as the author. While I'm flattered, it's just wrong.

hooray videopimp! (okay, i'm a little biased.) you've got a great site here guys!
-
hey rain, thanks! i'm guessing you're the rain from videopimp? well you guys have an amazing service! (and i can say that without bias. haha)
