MOTW #5: This Beautiful Mess - 'Up The Barricades'

I'm always impressed by an artist when they put together a song or an album that has such an impact on its audience as to capture them instantly. That is what I love about This Beautiful Mess who bring us this week's mp3 of the week all the way from the Netherlands. Yeah, they're internationals.

The music that these guys (and gal) produce finds their roots in rock, but doesn't stay there. Weaving through pop melodies with often tense vocals, they remind me of a mix between Radiohead and Tremolo actually. Weird, huh? Oh, and these guys have some awesome album names. The one this song is off of is called "Temper The Wind To The Shorn Lamb". How rad is that? Anyways, what makes this song worthy enough to post? Well, for one, it's one of the first songs of their I heard that just got stuck in my head. Plus, the chorus has often been the cry of my heart:

I'll be up the barricades,
My life is at stake here,
I'd rather burn down than fade away, fade away...

That, plus the bridge is pretty awesome too. But I'll wait for you guys to give it a listen. If you like it, you can check out another song of theirs that I put up on my blog a few days ago. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys. Oh, I forgot the obligatory apologies for not posting the past couple weeks: I was sick. Yeah, that's all you get :)
