Watch VIDEO: "Easier Than Love" by a cover band

I thought this was interesting. The drums don't come through clearly though, in the recording, for some reason. But its still cool.

Some of you might also be interested in this related blog entry that has its reservations about the idea. Feel free to leave a comment or opinion on the matter, if you read it.

    Hmm.

That was interesting, I laughed a little because the lead singer seems to resemble Jon slightly.

His vocals can use some work but it's alright, not as much kick as the original. You gotta rock out to this song.

yeah rose i totally laughed at that too. I mean, he doesn't look like jon, but it appears that he's trying to...

yeah...it's lacking in the 'rockin out' department. not too shabby though

Woah, he even looks like Jon. Freaky. The cover isn't that fantastic. I'm too picky. I'm going to read the related blog entry later.

well by resemble Jon I didn't mean the way his face looks [coughthewayowenwilsonlooksnothinglikehimcough] - simply like he was dressing like him and his stance and things like that. The drums also carry ETL for me so it took a lot away to not be able to hear them.

I watched the video and read the blog entry. Their version of the song was alright, although they're certainly no switchfoot. But I think the idea of a church covering famous rock bands and other things from popular, mainstream culture is kind of a ridiculous idea. I mean, you might fill seats in your church with such tactics, and people might enjoy it, but is it really going to change people's lives or impact them in any significant way? I doubt it... those things really happen in personal interactions and small groups. And can Christians please just stop blatantly copying other people? I mean, really, do we have no creativity at all? Have we forgotten that God is creative and we should reflect that? Ok, sorry, this is kind of long and angry-sounding. But things like this annoy me. I guess I shouldn't talk, since I'm not (entirely) perfect, either. :)

Well, it was alright I guess I totally agree that the lead singer was trying to emmulate Jon (he wasn't doing a very good job). I don't really think that this song is appropriate for church.
