bro-am spotlight

"Bro-Am" is the buzzword in town, so I thought I'd devote an entire post to the event, reliving some moments from last year's event, and looking forward to the one that's gonna take place this weekend.

First, some updates about this year's. A fellow fan, Holly Howard, was at the bro-am fundraising auction the other night, and she said she had a great time. The highest bidder gave away around $2200. yep. Here's a picture she snapped, of Jon playing "Revenge" for the attendees:

Also, Alicia left a comment on the previous post saying that Jamie Tworkowski of TWLOHA will be at the Bro-Am. Great guy. Be sure to check out the TWLOHA booth there and get to know their story, if you're going. An amazing organization serving people in need, giving hope to youth.

Our blogger friend Tim Rogers at Broken Masterpieces wrote a report about his experience at last year's Bro-Am. In the build-up to this year's, that'd be a great read, if you haven't read it already. Check it out.

Now for a few video flashbacks to last year's Bro-Am. A clip of Tristan Prettyman, a performer at the event, playing "The Story":

Official Switchfoot Podcast 7, a showcase on last year's Bro-Am:

Transworld Surf's editor Chris Cote did this fun interview featurette last year:

Now for a little photo-feed from bro-am '06. First, some never-before-seen pictures by Leon S...

(see the rest here)

Some pics of the concert part of the evening, by wannabesurfergurl:

Listening like hawks...

He figured these pictures might end up on switchFeed, so he puts his shirt back on quickly...

Lastly, a great shot by rubbysoccerqueen, of San Diego band This Holiday Life (who will be playing at this weekend's too):

Hope you enjoyed those. Who's gonna be there this Saturday? Let's see some hands!

ps- Special thanks to those whose pictures have been featured above.

Wow! I loved the pics. I'm living up in Canada so it's kinda hard to make the trip down to Bro-Am.

Whoever is going should LOTS of pictures and videos so that the unfortunate ones can relive the event.

    Have fun! :)

I'm going! I'm so excited! I'm driving to California tomarrow after work! I can't wait!!!

I heard a little rumor that Jason Mraz isn't going to play. Anyone know if that is true? I'm going either way, but having Mraz play would make it just that much cooler.

  • At June 3, 2007 1:27:00 AM PDT, Blogger Phil said…

^yes. in fact I made the post and left it in drafts so Tim could go over it first, and then he posted it himself.

^well, if we could be people "just going off and posting pics of their kids w/o asking them first", we wouldn't be running this blog on their homepage. :) if it's on their homepage, i think you can safely assume they've got it covered and they're cool with it. but glad you asked, cause I'm sure there are more people out there wondering about the same thing.
