| Keeping it together. |
Ok, so, yeah, we haven't had a post in 2 days. I believe this is the first weekend that this has happened since we started 6 months ago. Why this tragedy? Well, the real tragedy (and reason for my absence) is that my "Canadian" laptop charger's plug doesn't fit well into these Indian plug-points - creating a touch-me-not situation. But people around the house somehow always manage to touch it, in spite of instructions not to--maybe they're living with their eyes half open?--so gravity caused the charger to have many a great fall, and eventually one of the pins got bent and broken. Earlier someone had inadvertently stepped on the other end of the charger and that had gotten bent, too. To make matters worse, my ancient battery is malfunctioning and the laptop cannot run for more than a minute without the charger plugged in. Everything was breaking down, breaking down. So I pledged allegiance to a long piece of cellotape, in this fight against gravity. You might find the resulting image amusing:
So what did all that have to do with Switchfoot? I guess nothing (unless you took the point of the story to be "you bend until you break" or something. Wouldn't be your fault if you did.) But, onto the actual Switchfoot stuff now. Mr. Butler and the older Foreman appeared on San Diego TV though, the other day, as part of the build-up to Bro-am. Watch the video here.
Seth at the Footsoldiers HQ has a message for the soldiers. Here it is for those who didn't receive the email:
Hey there, Soldiers!
The Bro-Am is just around the corner (next weekend) and we need some help getting the word out in the San Diego area. For any of you who live in the SD area, we would love and appreciate your help at the Bro-Am, as well as helping spread the word by posting flyers at this weekend's Spirit West Coast Festival at the Del Mar Race Track, as well as all around town (coffee shops, schools, etc.). If you can help, we want to start asap, as in tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday. Since this is a holiday weekend, we would love help getting flyers up all around the Spirit West Coast Festival. If you can help with flyers, please email Mia at mia@ranchandcoast.com. If you want to help out at the actual Bro-Am next weekend, please email me at footsoldiers@switchfoot.com. This is a chance for you San Diego Foot Soldiers to shine! Again, please email Mia if you would like to help post flyers at the Spirit West Coast Festival and around town, and email me if you would like to help next weekend at the Bro-Am.
A thousand thanks, Soldiers! We appreciate all you do for us!
Seth
Jordon Grove emailed us with a link to 2 short interviews with Drew, and also an MP3 of cmcentral.com's interview with Jon Foreman that we'd posted a while back. Here they are. Thanks, Jordan.
Remember when Tim said "many more good things to come, my friends" in his introductory post when switchFeed moved to switchfoot.com? It's true. That's all I'm gonna say about that right now.
But the immediate future of this blog seems to be depending on a piece of cellotape halfway around the globe from most of ya'll. How fun. If gravity wins, or if I decide to put away the laptop to spend more time with family over my last couple weeks here at home, then you'll have Gellie (who used to post occasionally back when we were a little fanblog) back in action to fill in for me. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of knowing her, she happens to be among the most beautiful people alive. That, again, didn't have much to do with Switchfoot, but I'm done- have a good one amigas and amigos, thanks for reading. K.I.T.Labels: downloads, videos. |

Haha! I can totally identify with your fight against gravity. It's quite annoying. I hope the tape holds up for you. :)
Ya and I just HAD to bug you about the post-less weekend. You're forgiven.
I can't wait for the "many more good things to come." You've left us in suspense.
-
I was wondering if you were dead or something. This is reassuring.
-
It's good to hear (or read) that you're ok Phil! I can't wait either for those "good things to come"
P.S. Enjoy the time you have with your family. Have a great day!
-
haha faye, yeah if you hadn't "bugged" me about it, the whole charger story prolly wouldn't have made it to switchfoot.com. :P
and I just realized, if the tape doesn't hold up, I could just retape it with fresh tape. eureka!
-
haha. you're a brilliant man, Phil.
I hope you have some more time to yourself and your family.
-
so...tape = brilliance?
kidding.
-
OH YOU'RE ALIVE!!! XD hahahaha I liked the songs references.... Phil, just go and have fun with your family!

just wanted to say: 1.) congrats on getting to switchfoot.com, phil. you're doing a fantastic job! 2.) tape is the answer to everything. duct tape is the personal favorite here. 3.) have a great last couple weeks in India. We are perfectly content with gellie. we like her better. *cough* what? did i say that out loud? haha jk. we love it when you post.
have a great day! annnnndddd CUT.

-
amigas and amigos - that's the greeting from India, eh phil? hahah just kidding :) i hope you enjoy your last while there.. but seriously you must be DYING to come back to Canada!! we're all very thankful for that tape... and i have to agree that duct tape may be more trusty for future use (though it tends to leave more wall residue, so be warned) happy monday everyone!
-
It's good to see you can MacGyver a system to hold the plug in the electrical output!

I can totally relate to YOU!!! my charger is broken and well its a real pain!!!

Nice song references.

@mabel, believe it or not, my "cable" internet IS dialup speed, hahahah.
@gellie, actually, yes, the kind of beauty i'm talking about does help become a great blogger :p
@vicky, more like beautiful letdowns than beautiful christians.
@becca, thanks for that link, etc. :)
@kelsey, haha thanks, glad you emerged from the woodwork.
@everyone, thanks for being understanding about the family situation and overall nice. ;)
-
So it may not be a totally Switchfoot related post...but it is funny!!! Though I was wondering why you wouldn't use another piece of tape if the tape failed. But everyone's already covered that....see this is what I get for coming late to the party!!
-
wow that is something. and so what if it's not switchfoot related, that is funny!!! and it is kinda switchfoot related, it has hteir lyrics in your paragraph. good enough for me!!
-
haha, funny post. loved the song references. i am very excited for the "many more good things to come." that is leaving me sitting on the edge of my seat.
-
@susy and phil
no problem. :)
-
ahah phil, i totally can identify with you, except that it was to use my flat iron *cough*. i had to hung the wire to a hook in the right angle to get it work... france and the us sometimes don't have things in common, plugs are one these.
-
Haha, thanks for battling gravity so you can post something up for us :) But don't forget to have fun with your family too...
-
Pwahahaha. That made me laugh. Good lyrics, man, good lyrics.
Thanks for the awesome updates! Can't wait for the Bro-Am. ...or to at least see pics from it. Yeah, I live in Utah. Ha.
n-e-wayz. Gracias, love the site. Keep it up.
-
glad to hear from you! Very funny post. I think we've all had to turn to the tape at least once. lol I loved the picture.
I'm glad I finally get to read this post! My internet has been acting up all weekend and I just now figured out that all I had to do was reset my network adaptor... I so don't know much about computers. HA
-
try duct tape, it is a Swearby product! yeah I guess that is a Switchfoot thing with the whole gravity thing:-P
-
"Canadian" laptop charger and a battle with gravity huh? *ponders*....hmmm, I wonder just what it is that makes that charger "Canadian". Would it be simply that it was purchased (here) in Canada or is there some kind of difference in the wiring, pins, plugs...whatever electrical gadgets that go into building a laptop charger? Of course, I am aware that Canadian wiring is different than American wiring but I'm not sure exactly what the difference is. I am however, pretty sure that gravity remains the same both north and south of the border..."Oh Gravity!" ;-)
And so the pondering continues. Good luck with the gravity fight, hope the cello tape holds up and thanks for sharing the humour. :-)
Laters, Kate
