switchfoot heron, "switchfoot theory", etc.

Vicky Chiri strikes again. This time it's a "Nothing Is Sound" painted bird to be auctioned off on Bro-am night:

A MySpace blogger comes up with what he calls "The Switchfoot Theory". Even if slightly ramble-y, any Switchfoot fan will get a kick out of this, so go read.
"The point [of my essay] is music and what it's about and the ignorance of stubborn fools who like music because it "sounds" pleasing to their ears rather than looking in depth to what music really is."
Strongly worded? I guess. Check. Grey subject matter? Check. He rates his "essay" a D-? Check. But I'm still gonna give him an A. But then again, I'm a little biased, so.

The homepage of Boom, the production company behind the "Awakening" video, is all Switchfootized. Thanks, LOBH. The site also features a high-quality stream of the "Awakening" video.

There may be someone out there who needs to know about this:
...the Switchfoot show scheduled for Aug. 10 will move to 8 p.m. Aug. 11. Ticketholders should contact the fair box office, (414) 266-7100, to exchange their tickets for the new date.

Popular Switchfoot fan-site "Land Of Broken Hearts" aka LOBH have got themselves a domain name. www.landofbrokenhearts.org. Congrats, Jeanna & co.!

Anyone like these paperboats and skulls floating on these waves? Then thank Cassie, my graphics buddy.

that essay is really quite something.
I don't think I've ever thought of their older stuff as 'junk in the trunk', but hey, that's just me.
I see his point, and I appreciate that he's not a 'stubborn fool' but personally, I think how a piece of music sounds is what draws us to in initially. The first time you hear some music, you're not going to know all the words, so the rhythm and the beat and the sound's going to have to attract you before you understand the lyrics. Lyrics are important, definitely, but they're generally not the very first things I notice; usually takes me to the second listen to get them.

mm, the graphics obviously look way better on SF's site - really awesome. I like the skulls, too, now that I'm here.

Is the stork visiting us for a reason?? ;oP

It's a heron, actually. lol.. and the auction is on Bro Am night! Guess I'll celebrate by going and hopefully raising the most money with this artwork. I got to peek at some of the other birds and none of them look any thing like this. Hopefully people will like it and not be freaked out by it. Ha ha

I was going to say a crane because of the beak and the body. Well nice job Vicky. Did you ever decorate the other side? Good luck at the auction.

As for the Switchfoot Theory, I'd give him an 'A' also. I love the fact that he mentions music being deeper than just what's on the outside. I wonder if those that say they don't like SF or for that matter any other band because they are just going along with everyone else......yet deep inside they really do like them but are afraid to say it.

    ^yeah i've wondered that too.

alright, changed it to heron now, haha. also added the bro-am mention.

I'm going to...uh...need to see that bird...for...research purposes. I'll need to hold on to it for...you know...security reasons, so if you could just send that to my house via Fed Ex..that'd be great.

oh and heather, the graphics added are for switchfoot.com... the feed is gonna be mainly for here now, so i'm gonna be focusing development here more than there. it's the official switchfoot blog first, switchfeed.com second.

I got around all of that just by saying 'bird' it's safer that way, lest I offend someone :D

I love the Heron Vicky! You are far more artistic than I. I do all my artwork through a camera lens.

That blog was interesting. But I agree. If you really don't care for a band, why spend the time ranting about how much you don't like them. Is it really going to effect your life if Jane Doe over in Florda is crazy about Switchfoot...? Not really. I just don't get it..? *Shrugs*

    Keep rockin' Phil!

Wow, cool bird! I love the Nothing Is Sound cover so yeah, that would be cool to have in my room.

Has anyone (besides the original artworkist) ever tried to draw the Oh!Gravity. cover by hand? One time I was at a restraunt with my family and I tried to draw the cover by memory on the paper-covered table with a crayon. It was hard! lol

Does "lurking" mean going to sites and not leaving any sort of footprints(comments or anything)?

Vicky since I live closer to you than most on here I'm thinking I need to make you an offer and just ride down and pick the bird up. Must be nice to have talent. You did a great job!

Lori, you should come to the auction! Haha, okay I know that's a stretch, but it's going to be really great. It's at the San Francisco Plantation here in Laplace, which is absolutely gorgeous and we get to get all dressed up and act rich. Hehe.

And thanks, everyone, but all I did was paint it. If it weren't for Switchfoot, I wouldn't have been able to do it at all because I am not creative. All the credit goes to them for creating a beautiful album, inside and out.

the author of the blog is going to be confused by the sudden interest in his blog until he finds out that it was linked here! I can picture it now, "what the, who are all these people? do they just troll myspace for blogs on SF??" It was a cool post though. I liked it.

I'm completely bummed about the Bro-Am. I would love to go however; considering I live in Ohio it's no a trip I find feasible with school. One of these days I'm gonna go....and considering it seems to fall around my birthday every year(June 3rd is my b-day) It will be a lovely present to myself...a trip to California to support a good cause.
Anyhow...the bird made me think of all this....what a thought provoking bird!!!

i wish i could go to Bro-Am, but, i highly doubt i ever will, because i live REAAAALLLLLYYYY far from California, and, it just wont work, but, it would be awesome if i could go.
