Ahh yes, good ol' 'the Switchfoots'.

Solo project? Obviously can't say if it's official Jon Foreman, or perhaps if it is the Foreman himself, he may just continuously update songs he writes everyday.

I don't think it's Jon though, but, we'll find out soon, won't be Phil won't we? If we don't find out soon I may feel the need to write a wikipedia entry about Jon's bright blue dress; and of course, the way he parts his hair.

I wouldn't worry if solo projects arise. You can still be/have a band and have solo projects on the side.

 

I'm sure phil (with his indefinite sources of information and his ability to know the right people ;] ) can tell us if it's official or not. I'm kinda doubting it. who knows.

I wouldn't be surprised if it actually is Jon. All we can do now is wait on Switchfoot/Phil's word :D (this place is starting to have a detective/spy feel to it. I like it!)

 

I love that picture! Its great! I love how Jerome is just stand there all calm. I wouldn't be able to stop laughing if I was there to see Jon flying through the air in a skirt... lol

I don't know about that myspace page actually being Jon's, but I do have some more evidence for a Jon Foreman solo project. Check out what Charlie Peacock said on his myspace page (www.myspace.com/charliepeacock):

"I'm doing something fun with Jon Foreman (solo) and Switchfoot's next record -- all of this in progress and unnamed."

Interesting, huh? I'm betting that there will be some sort of solo project, but it doesn't sound like anything real serious. I don't think the guys of Switchfoot will be giving up the band anytime soon.

i liked that review of the bro-am. it's so awesome to hear how it really brought the community together, even and especially in spight of the last-minute complications.

and $60,000?! sweet! powerful stuff happens when people come together with a common purpose.

 

Hahaha why have I never seen that Royal Switchfoots photo before?! Amazing! What's more amazing is that Jon and Chad make really good Wilson Bros. doubles when their hair's done right! (I know it's Drew as Luke Wilson's character there, but they should have swapped!)

 

I really have nothing constructive to say since I'm still getting over the awesomeness of that photoshoot picrure. priceless.

@vicky - I went to the MySpace, then clicked on jonforeman.com, and it's blank, but if you purposefully get a 404 (a missing link), you get a SonyMusic 404 page, just like the ones you get for a missing link on Switchfoot's site. hmmm..... I'm not sure I like this whole solo thing....

 

Another addition to my last comment, it's not that I'm worried about Switchfoot being no more, I just don't know if it would be cool for Jon to go off on his own. Sure, there will still be a Switchfoot, but I don't know if I would still like him without the rest of the band.

 

I'm pretty sure the myspace/site is official, though not "launched" yet so in that sense it's unofficial.

I might actually like a Jon solo album more than Switchfoot - or as much as Switchfoot. Not that the SF guys aren't upto the mark, not at all, but when Jon's on his own his songwriting becomes incredibly honest, without holding back (like I feel he does with SF), and he's one of the best acoustic guitarists I've known. So those things could add up for an amazing solo career. I'd love to see Jon in those "Top 100 songwriters of all time" rankings, and going solo I believe would really help him make his mark as a unique songwriter. Just IMO. In short, I think I would still LOVE his work w/o the band.

When I think about it more, I think that maybe a Jon solo wouldn't be too bad. His acoustic songs are awesome, but with Switchfoot it excludes the rest of the band. With a solo album he could do all of those songs all on his own. I guess it wouldn't be that bad, as long as Switchfoot is still around, and their music doesn't suffer because their singer/songwriter/guitarist is off doing his own thing.

 

Well, I know I just commented, but here I go again. :) I was looking at Switchfoot's Wikipedia article, (wikipedia.com and search Switchfoot if you haven't seen it.) and then I went to look at the article on Jon Foreman, all of the members have their own separate article. And at the bottom it says "In 2006, Foreman and Nickel Creek member Sean Watkins started a collaborating duo called "The Real SeanJon". The duo plans to have an album released before the end of 2007, and it will feature a version of Foreman's song "Betrayal". As of April 2007, they have seven tracks completed." Pretty cool, huh? When he said something about that at the Bro-Am I had no clue that he was serious, haha. To see the whole article go to
