| Summer Festivals = Pictures + Interviews |
Today in Shirleysburg Pennsylvania, the Creation East festival took place as scheduled. Switchfoot attended the event and most likely rocked out as scheduled. Thanks to our friend Luke (photographer extraordinaire), we already have some news about the events that took place before the concert, complete with a few snazzy pictures. Luke had this to say about the press conference:
Just got back from the press conference. Some of the questions posed by the media were "What does it mean to be a Christian band?", "What song has impacted your fans the most over the years?" , "How are you involved in missions?" , "What future plans do you have for the Bro-Am?" , and mine was "In which market have you faced more persecution? The secular, or the Christian?"
Jon's answer to my question was really convicting. He started talking about the weight of the word "persecution" and how the band hasn't faced anything near what Christians in Nepal, or Indonesia have. He also said that sometimes people's negative words and negative comments about their faith "smart"/[hurt]
Tim's answer to the question of which song is most impacting was "Dare You to Move" and that upon finishing it, they all knew they had really created something powerful. Jon said that sometimes it still can move him to tears, and that he's glad it got a second chance (on the Beautiful Letdown) Here's a sample of Luke's soundcheck photos. This one's my favorite because I'm not quite sure what Chad's head is doing on the ground.
To see Luke's other pics from before the set, visit his Flickr page. Thanks so much, Luke!
Hopefully more news soon on the outcome of Creation East.
Backtracking to previous festivals, LOBH has put up some great interviews that were recorded at the Alive festival. Jon talks about relationships, magical song-writing, grocers, turtles, oblivious rockstars, and lots of serious stuff, too. Check 'em out: Clip 1 Clip 2 Clip 3 Clip 4
Thanks, Megan and LOBH.
That's all, folks!
P.S. Word on the street is, the Awakening video has made it to over 1 million views on Youtube! Alright, Footsoldiers!Labels: interviews., pictures., videos. |

I'm going to cornerstone tomorrow, so I'll send in pictures/a review asap afterwards. Luckily, the hotels we're staying at there and in chicago have free wifi :)

DUDE!!! I was there at creation last night just to see Switchfoot. Well and, of course, cuz the whole point of the concert is just totally rad. But it was so cool last night and everything was perfect. ('cept the storm of course)

"He also said that sometimes people's negative words and negative comments about their faith "smart"/[hurt]"
Wow, that really, really touches my heart. Why are labels so important to people? And, the way some people define "Christian" is sickening.
*The slash and brackets are odd punctuation...can anyone clarify that for me? I just want to make sure I'm not missing part of the meaning.

thank you!!! I'm sooo happy for awakening!!!! I think the idea someone had of making july the awakening month is great

Great videos! Their answers have so much truth to them, it's so amazing.
And I agree with the Dare You To Move thing. It's affected so many people I know and it happens to be one of the more well known ones of the band. I think it might have been the first Switchfoot song I ever heard and since then, it has affected me in many different ways.

Creation was amazing.
that's all i have to say.. =)

Creation WAS great. I traveled 8 hours :X. Haha. Jon kept switching lines in songs around (don't worry I got video) and it almost got rained out! A lot of us were standing in the rain with tarps over our head singing "Here we are now with the falling sky and the rain!" and chanting for them to get on stage :D
I can't wait to hear more about the press conf.

Creation was great and switchfoot rocked! I will be posting videos on youtube and photo's on my myspace.

So, Luke...this was a fateful day. It was the day you met me. Good recap on the press conference. I do remember Jon talking about an upcoming project but I'm not sure if we can report on that or not??? Anyway, great experience all the way around. Those guys consistently amaze me.
