Switchfoot wins 'Album of the Year' at the SDMA!

Switchfoot won 'Album of the Year' for "Oh! Gravity.", at the coveted San Diego Music Awards. I know this means a lot to the guys, coming from their hometown and all. The awards also featured the first ever live performance by The Real SeanJon, the collaboration project from Jon Foreman and Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek. Read jon's blog mentioning the event (amongst other things). Congrats, guys! (More details here.)

"Only Hope" from the Philippines show. Great video quality is a bonus:

Also from the Manila show, here are some sweet shots by Mo. A few of them sampled below.

Below is a promo video of the show, with a little bit about the cause that Switchfoot played for. Visit IJM.org.

Lastly, here's an amusing video from Jordan (their tour guide in the Philippines), with the guys in the bus:
"Here's something I took on the way to the airport. Everyone's still groggy & acting weird, including me & Drew who never really slept. It's been fun. So here are their goodbyes etc. Enjoy."

There's countless blogs (some with great pictures) raving about the Manila show... too many to post them all here. It makes me happy to see the excitement of people who don't get to see the band live as often as those of us in North America do.

On an offtopic note, I just saw 2 MuteMath shows in 2 nights. Legs still ache from jumping all over the place. These guys truly kill it live. Un-freakin-believable. If they're coming near you this tour, go see them ...before they start selling out stadiums. (Roy, yup, this is the blog. Thanks to you, Darren & co. for taking the time to chat, and being so easy to talk to. Enjoy the rest of the tour!)

peace to you,

I caught Mute Math on their UK tour in Bristol. Tiny venue but they still managed to get the place jumping. Did Paul pass his theremin-guitar around the audience?! Hahah, hope they come back soon. Supporting Switchfoot if my dreams come true! :D

Geeze! I cannot express enough how much these guys make my heart want to explode out of my chest. The IJM video makes me kick myself for sitting at my computer.

I have so much admiration for Switchfoot being able to play the music that they love and using it as a conduit for bigger things that help humanity.

Ugh! I get so frustrated with baby-steps, but someday I have faith that all my baby steps will add up to many lives that I have touched and helped to improve.

Continue to inspire me, Switchfoot. You are a vehicle of love!

it's ok, jon. i'm entertainingly semi-coherent in the early morning too.

Congrats to them for Album of the Year! Yay.

I loved the last video. HAHA! "Ano daw?" means "what did he say?" when Jon mumbled something [I think] in Filipino.

@reg: I watched the video twice and I think Jon said something like, "Pate". And I've been thinking since yesterday what it means. Haha.

Drew is crazy when he doesn't have sleep. =)) He keeps on saying things which I don't think he understands anymore. Haha.

And Tim! "Mahal ko Philippines!" Awwww. :)

The video in P.I. in the bus - HAHAHAHAHA!!! The captions in tagalog are too funny. The caption for Jon "ano daw?", meaning "what'd he say?" had me rolling. I'm still trying to figure out what he did say. Probably just muttered whatever and think he could get away with it - NOT!!! Hah!

haha, uno! we're fighting over the sf guys! JK!
their all funny..thats funny jane, i didn't even know he said that.

lydz, jordan the tourguide asked them all to say some last words and Jon muttered something that apparently none of the Filipinos that has seen (and made) the video has figured out yet. That explains the caption "ano daw? (what'd he say?)" after he spoke. It's so funny because I'm not sure if it's English or Tagalog but that maybe he just tried to say something in Tagalog since everyone else said something in tagalog just before it was his turn. So, to me it looks as if he just made something up because he's blanked out from lack of sleep. Peer pressure from Tim and Drew. Poor thing. Hahah!

haha!!!^yeah it's hard trying to be as funny as tim and drew..JK!
oh, yeah i would think he was tired. i thought it was funny that he was just singing in the back ground, he looked likea crazy person to me!!! HAHA!
