"Awakening" hits #1 on Fuse TV countdown!

Fuse TV may feel guilty about loving Switchfoot's "Awakening", but we certainly don't mind. Because the video has landed #1 spot on their "Guilty Pleasures" countdown. Thanks, Christina. I don't think it would be a stretch to say that our collective efforts (when we had the votebox embedded on switchfeed.com until a few days ago) has been instrumental in this rise. A little kerosene and a little electric spark from each of us equals some serious chart-burning: good work, amigos. ...speaking of which, maybe I should get the votebox back on the site? The only problem is it makes the page look a little ugly... but do you care?

Let's all go here right now and log another vote for the video, so we keep it at #1, where it belongs. And how bout we do this as often as we can? (idea: make it your homepage.)

A press release on the video that details the amazing innovation that went into it.

We have some sites confirming the Switchfoot + Relient K tour, and they will be co-headlining. Booyah!

I remember once saying "Jon Foreman is the modern-day Bob Dylan", while talking about Switchfoot, during a bus journey with a friend who'd been fed with some of the preconceived notions about Switchfoot that float around. Yep, he hadn't heard any of their music. He said the Bob Dylan comparison was a "huge statement". Maybe so. But I gave him my copy of "Oh! Gravity." and a few days later I asked him what he thought. He didn't say much. He just smiled. Thought I'd share that little story with ya'll when I came across someone else who thinks the same:
After listening to this new release by Switchfoot I realized something that I had never realized before. This power driven rock-band is the Bob Dylan of our time, the group that is most often bringing today’s real questions to the conscience of modern day America. Really; I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of this while listening to their past projects, but it just struck me while I was listening to “Circles”; which by the by is my favorite song on Switchfoot’s latest contribution “Oh! Gravity”

I am not minimizing the macro issues that Hollywood throws its weight behind. Even though I have a hard time taken many celeb’s seriously. It’s just that Jon and the rest of the guys in Switchfoot seem to be asking the real-life questions in their songs. The questions, that when finally answered, can really make a difference to you and I.
'nuff said.

A note about the previous post: I realize that using the freebie rapidshare.com isn't the best option, as the site's interface is a bit confusing, besides, you guys deserve to have the files upped on our server, with direct links to download each file individually right off this page, without any Rapidshare-like hassle. Well, while we're working on that, Alex Welgraven has uploaded the tracks as individual files here for those of you having trouble with it. Thanks, Alex.

This "shlog" entry made me chuckle. Are the Switchfoot guys really that little? I didn't think so. "...my four year-old, Derek Webb and, of course, the guys in Switchfoot are all Switchfoot-sized." Comedian.

Being an Indian makes me Switchfoot-sized by default (our race has a lower average-height than, say, Caucasians). Anyone else "Switchfoot sized" and proud of it?

You know you're Switchfoot-sized when..... your 11-year-old sister is taller than you.

    True story.

I work in a day care too and just about every student over 4th grade are taller than me. I know I'm short when I'm asking a 5th grader to get something from a shelf for me. haha.

I like the term Switchfoot-sized. Although I do believe that all the guys in the band are taller than me by at least a few inches!

Ooh! and btw... Rock on Switchfoot with the Number 1 on the Fuse countdown!

Phil, I think it was perfect having it on the page. I voted every time I opened your page. It was automatic. It was a good idea!

I hope we can keep it at number 1!!!

btw, I don't think anyone really cared about the votebox. Put it back!

    @ erica, lmao!!

@ jonathan, "Switchfoot-sized" is just a way to say "short", meaning, everyone in Switchfoot is really short, so if you see a short person, you could call them "Switchfoot-sized"... yeah, kinda silly I know. And, I agree, I think the vote box should stay up. If someone really hates it, they can Personally, I don't think it looked bad at all.

Okay this is super exciting.. We need to have a Awakening celebration party or something. It's so good to see our + Switchfoot's efforts paying off. I've been watching FUSE non-stop lately (not just for Switchfoot, but because it's a GREAT place to find new music) and I have already bought a few CDs of the artists I've heard there. Hopefully others will do the same with Switchfoot. Kudos to everyone for voting. Kudos to Switchfoot for making this awesome video!

my brother and my dad are pretty short and my sister and my mom are ridiculously short aswell!

I think its a mexican thing...

I'm oddly in the middle of everyone haha

so yeah I'm pretty proud of that!

I don't think I'm switchfoot-sized, or that anyone else in my family is, except for my grandma. She is so small that my seven year-old sister is almost as tall as her.

And congrats to Switchfoot for making #1, all of our voting paid off!

btw-I also think the votebox should be put back up, it was very convenient for me to put in as many votes as I could in a quick amount of time.

    ahah. that's great.

and if the votebox is back, it'd sure be convenient.

Yeah I say put the voting box back on SFeed. It always lets me vote an extra time since it's on a different page. I'm sure that's the same for a lot of others too.

Drew is not the typical "Switchfoot sized." He's a head taller than me! So I think he's the exception.

    Thanks for posting today.
Can't wait to read the Revenge post soon!

Yep I'm totally Switchfoot size. I'm the shortest in my family...I get on a good day 5'4" So yeah...totally switchfoot sized!!

And Phil...I'm doing my best to make sure that when I tke the time to read blogs, I have time to comment...thus making it so I'm not lurking!!!

And question. When Switchfoot was at the Underground in Cinci...the concert people(those working at the venue) mentioned that the whole thing was recorded for a TV show/could at some future date be purchased. So I've been looking for it...and haven't found anything...the show is called "The Zone TV" I can't even get any kind of answer on their website...wanna give it a try?!

^ I know what you're talking about but I can't find out anything about The Zone either! The only thing I see about Switchfoot on their site, surfthezone.com, is they played Awakening on their May 12 episode.

I say bring the voting box back. It helps some with the hassle of going to the Fuse website to find the box to vote. It's convenient.

Great job to you all in the voting. Don't stop......Keep up the great work!

@Phil.....Yes, of course you don't see it. You are the same size. :D

@Gellie......Don't tell Rose. She felt really short just standing next to me. hehe

My entire family is Switchfoot sized. I'm barely 5'1".

I'm all for bringing the vote box back too.

I say the fuse box should be reinstated.
WOOT guilty pleasures, and frankly, go us for getting it up there.
    This rocks big time!

ha, I'm totally Switchfoot-sized (indian, therefore, apparently shorter!), although sadly, I have no cool story to share, except that I'm about 5'4 and I don't think Im going to grow anymore! :(
but if I get to be switchfoot-sized, I don't think I mind so much anymore.

thanks for the uploads alex, my interenet connection couldn't handle that huge file.

Why are we only aiming for "Guilty Pleasures"? It makes Switchfoot seems like a joke of some sorts, like they aren't good enough for people to listen to without being embaressed.

  • At May 19, 2007 4:13:00 PM PDT, Anonymous rose said…

Cookie! I felt so short. Did you see me standing next to Chad? With you, Chad and Drew around I might as well have been two inches tall.

yikes. definitely not switchfoot-sized.. i'm dutch on both sides of my family and i'm 6'1.. but in my picture with jon it looks like we're the same height.. maybe i was just slouching? haha i had a dream last night that i was hanging out with tim after a show, and we were the same height... it was a really wierd dream.
    [okay end randomness]
sweet #1 status, that's awesome! i think the box should come back, it forces us to vote since it's staring us in the face :)

:( I feel so left out... I'm 5'8". And for a girl that's pretty tall. My whole family is switchfoot size though. I'm like the weird one in the family... LOL... But nonetheless I still love my surfer boys. And I feel so happy that the video is #1. That doesn't mean that we should stop voting though. Let's keep it at #1 and show all everyone what a great band Switchfoot is.
BTW, if you guys are watching the video on youtube and you happen to notice alot of comments from dulcemrebelde, yeah that's me!!! lol...

alright the box shall be back by popular request. :)

@vicky, it's not by our choice that they put it on "guilty pleasures" - that's FUSE's choice, we can't change it. we can only vote for it on whatever countdown it is on.

@brittany, haha that's awesome, i like hearing the thoughts of the people who read, so i'm a fan of all you commenters.

@emily, yeah that revenge post - i swear it would have been out if not for all this busy-ness around the launch of sfeed on sf.com... i really didn't expect it to launch so soon! but tim was super excited to get it up haha. so yeah the revenge post will be out hopefully within a week! because of this sf.com launch (and other stuff happening behind the scenes) it's hard to find time to finish up that post... most of it is done though, and i'm excited about it. >end ramble<

much love to all the switchfoot-sized folks. and to the rest of you who are too tall for this cool club. :P

ouch, phil. that too tall comment hurt me "right here" [points at heart like jon in the post-crash interview].
i'm still quite excited about the launch though, and i can't wait to see the revenge post too!
oh, and i love the fuse link - you made it look pretty too :)

haha. naw, r-jo they're not that short. romey and tim are kinda short i guess, but jon's average, and chad and drew are tall.

I never thought of the guys in Switchfoot as short. But I guess its all in perspective. Maybe the writer of that was slightly tall? lol

btw, what does "lurking" mean? I have a feeling I do that alot...

  • At May 20, 2007 7:17:00 PM PDT, Blogger Krista said…

tim's only like 5'5, and jerome's not too much taller than him... that's pretty short for guys, heh.

lurking = coming on here regularly and not leaving comments, basically. it's like you're here, but not.
